Slots are long-term rules; temporary management is an immediate one-off action that outranks them: a temporary lock does not auto-clear when an allowed slot starts, and a temporary unlock allows use even outside allowed slots. Billing is fully frozen during a temporary unlock — limited-minutes usage and point deduction are both paused, the remaining quota is kept as-is, and normal accounting resumes when the unlock expires (the parent's explicit redemption on the lock screen is unaffected).
My child won't get off — how do I take the PC away right now?
In the client go to Settings → Temporary management, enter minutes and click Temporary lock — it applies instantly. Away from the PC, issue a temporary lock from the web console, effective in about 10 seconds. The lock screen shows the remaining mm:ss. Steps below.
Set it on the device
- 01
Open Temporary management
Settings → Temporary management (after entering Setup mode). The page has two rows: temporary lock + minutes, and temporary unlock + minutes.
- 02
Enter minutes and click
Leaving it empty or ≤0 prompts “Please enter a valid duration (minutes)”. Click Temporary lock or Temporary unlock and it applies immediately — no Apply Now needed.
- 03
Check status and clear it
The status line shows “no temporary lock/unlock” or “temporary lock active, mm:ss remaining”. Click Clear temporary lock / Clear temporary unlock to end it early (no password needed inside Settings).
Do temporary lock and unlock conflict?
No — they are mutually exclusive: enabling one clears the other, and the child's 110 emergency unlock also clears a temporary lock. If both somehow exist, the lock wins.
Can I do this remotely?
- The device card in the web console can issue a temporary lock/unlock or clear a temporary unlock remotely, effective on the next heartbeat (~10s).
- A remote temporary lock switches the client back to Guardian mode first, so it works even if the child is currently in Setup mode.
- The Clear temporary unlock button on the client home screen still requires the parent password, so the child cannot cancel it.
